Construction began on the Elmer Brown Drive Bridge in Mingo County, WV on Memorial Day. Prior to the construction, VOAD in partnership with a local business removed the end span of the existing structure which joins the bridge to WV 65. The removal was done on Saturday May 13, 2017 in preparation of highway stabilization work to be preformed by the West Virginia Department of Highways beginning Monday May 15th.
For over 2 years now the almost one dozen families at Elmer Brown Drive has had to suffer the hardship of not having safe access to their homes, some forced to carry grocery’s over 1/4 mile. This construction which is expected to wrap up somewhere near June 16th will have these families feeling a sigh of relief once and for all.
A special thanks to:
Mennonite Disaster Service
Adventist Disaster Response
Local county, state, and federal officials
For making this bridge a reality. Also thanks to the many private donors who has contributed to the cause.
