“Disasters don’t plan ahead. You Can,” is the slogan for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s 2017 national preparedness month, with the focus being on creating an evacuation plan for yourself, your family and your friends. Each week has a different task to be completed, leading up to a functional, practiced plan for when a disaster strikes by the third week, and a focus on how you can help others in your community prepare and become involved.
Week 1 September 1-9: Make a Plan for Yourself, Family and Friends
Week 2 September 10-16: Plan to Help Your Neighbor and Community
Week 3 September 17-23: Practice and Build Out Your Plans
Week 4 September 24-30: Get Involved! Be a Part of Something Larger
For more information on how you can accomplish the tasks of each week, please go to the Preparedness Section of WV VOAD’s website or to Ready.gov.
